Sidd-antics

You know how parents post a hundred BILLION pictures of their kids? Well, I don’t have kids. But I have a cat, and I take a lot of pictures of him because he just is the darndest thing sometimes!! And he has these awesome huge golden eyes, kind of like an owl.

If you’re wondering what the heck is happening, I actually “trained” my cat Sidd when he was a kitten to climb onto my back and snuggle in my neck and ear when he was feeling purry, and tonight he decided to give a little of that same love to Matt. It’s nice because it’s kind of like a little massage.

Let’s Expo!

I was going to wait until it was closer to the actual date to post something like this, but some of ’s comments prompted me to address it earlier.

WPPI!

Last year I went at the last minute without even actually being a WPPI member (I literally heard about WPPI for the first time about a week and a half before I drove to Vegas for it) and it was kind of overwhelming and lonely; I’d never seen such a throng of photographers nor such a gigantic trade show, and half the time I wandered around Bally’s and Paris by myself just looking at stuff and sneaking into seminars. It was SO overwhelming!

But this year after making so many new friends online I’m determined to meet up with a few of you if you’ll be there, darn it! Plus I actually registered this year so I’m bringing my boyfriend Matt with me (he just sat in our hotel room all day long last year) and we’re going to ROCK THAT CONVENTION, BABY!

Seriously, are any of you going? I have time allotted to meet up with people on the following days:

Sunday, March 16th
2-5:30pm
6:15-8:15p at the WPPI Welcome Reception

Monday, March 17th (Happy St. Paddy’s!)
12p-3p, depending on what scheduled events I find happening at the trade show.
9:30p-11pm at the Champagne Shootout

Tuesday, March 18th
11a-5pm

Wednesday, March 19th
11a-3pm

I’m also going to the Pro Photo Expo in Pasadena tomorrow (Sunday) with a couple of photographers I met at a Jasmine Star lunch this week if anyone else will be there. I know this is SO TOTALLY last minute, but I believe I already mentioned today that I am an utter slacker…

[19] Wedding images

So I’m going through recent weddings to update my website and I discover an awesome shoot from October that I totally DIDN’T BLOG!! Man, I’m such a slacker…this one was actually a Disney wedding that took place at the Disneyland hotel (that’s the original Disneyland, baby…in Anaheim, CA!). The venue was guh-orgeous, it had the most awesome sunset lighting at the ceremony area…I would love to shoot there again!

Shoe detail

This shot cracks me up. Formal dress zippers are notoriously tiny and plastic (not very strong), so sometimes they don’t work the way they’re supposed to: One bridesmaid needed some MAJOR help with a particularly difficult zipper and wound up on the floor with the bride Diane and another bridesmaid trying to fix her…while the flower girl just kind of chills there oblivious to the crisis, lol!

WOW! This is how the bride entered the ceremony area…in a horse-drawn pumpkin carriage!

I had to get a shot of the horse’s tail, just because I know that somewhere out there is a person whose job title is probably “Disney stable stylist.”

Steven, the groom

A funny bridesmaid reaction while coming down the aisle. I think a lot of people forget how nervous bridesmaids and groomsmen get at weddings too; the bride and groom aren’t the only ones standing up there in front of everyone!

Kids in the bridal party usually fare pretty well, though. Despite usually getting really bored during the ceremony (I speak from experience, I was a flower girl for my aunt when I was 4!)

Diane getting a little hung up during the vows.

The beautiful Disney ballroom

WHAT A CAKE!!

Let’s get a closer look…

[22] Wedding images

About a month ago I helped my friend Xuong shoot Amanda & Justin’s wedding at the Newport Beach Hyatt.

I got a lot of great detail shots from this one. We had a lot of time and some beautiful light at a beautiful venue. What happy circumstance!

Amanda’s necklace…and one of her shoes.

Dolce & Gabbana…only the finest!

Seeing double? Amanda w/ her twin sister.

They had a pretty traditional Jewish wedding, complete with a band for some good old klezmer!

Justin with his ‘rents. These folks are all the way from Australia!

One of the many nifty Jewish ceremonies…circling the groom seven times (in this case escorted by the respective mothers of the bride and groom) to represent the seven wedding blessings.

MMM.

My absolute favorite thing about traditional Jewish celebrations is the DANCING! These guys can GROOVE!!

Eclipse, v2.0

If you missed the last one in August, you can catch another lunar eclipse tonight between 7 and 9pm (PST).

According to the news, this is the third total lunar eclipse visible to the Los Angeles area in the span of one year, and the last visible full eclipse until 2010.

Space is so amazing.

[17] Engagement images

This weekend I shot Andrea and Zach’s engagement session in anticipation on their wedding in March…or April? of 2009. Seriously Andrea, pick a date! Lol!

Andrera and Zach looked so blissfully happy taking this shot that people on the street honked for them as they drove past!

Zach admiring the park art. From “behind.”

Zach maintained that he and Andrea had to make sure and get a lot of practice making out before their big day. Luckily they didn’t mind practicing in front of ME!
