What! I still haven’t blogged Miriam and Alberto’s wedding?? Say it ain’t so!

Miriam and Alberto had a lot of cool extras on their wedding day at the Anaheim Hills Golf Clubhouse: saluting marines, dove release, belly dancers…the kind of spectacle you would expect of a 4th of July wedding.

Miriam was rocking the bling like nobody’s business.

Alberto was a Marine so you bet there were uniforms present…and NO discipline whatsoever in this bunch of military men ;-)

Miriam’s face at seeing Alberto for the first time (lol)!

Get a load of that feathery fabric on Miriam’s dress…gorgeous.

Matt scored this one.

This one is also by Matt…check out all that jewelry!!

But I think my favorite piece of her whole ensemble was the little hairpin. I have a weakness for cool hairpins.

Miriam also had quite a veil…

Miriam is a true Afghani beauty

Aw, dove love.

Matt snagged this one of the ring bearer watching the happenings, and something about his expression makes me laugh.

A WHOLE FLOCK OF DOVE LOVE!

Marine love, too.

OK, so Miriam, who I believe has taken bellydancing lessons herself, hired these two INCREDIBLE belly dancers who did all kinds of awesome tricks and performed for probably a full hour. It was out of sight, I think I shot a full 4gb card’s worth of photos of just them!

Who can blame me though…you get a ton of pics when you put a dancer with flaming swords in front of a photographer, right?

One of Matt’s

I don’t know how he got it, but Matt scored this awesome photo WITH HIS BARE HANDS, hahaha!

Now THAT’S how you cut a cake!!

Glow 2008

Last night Matt and I headed to the Santa Monica pier (at about 11:30pm) to check out Glow, the light-and-technology art/music festival put together on the beach.

Some of the art was kind of cool but in retrospect I’m beginning to believe that the event itself was the real art piece, featuring up to 44,000 people (that’s not a typo) wandering the beach and surrounding area looking for light and color, both of which there seemed to be tragically less of than anticipated. There were some cool perspective-bending “exhibits,” to be sure, but the event was made far more of an extravaganza by the swarms of people stumbling around in varyious states of intoxication. As one confused visitor put it, “There’s like 3,000 people down there praying to a #$*&@*% lava lamp!”

Parking was a nightmare, of course. From what I read, this event will be attempted again in a couple years. Hopefully by then some of the kinks will be smoothed out.

Gnarly crowds, this is a pedestrian bridge crossing Coast Highway at 1am.

Contrary to what it looks like, watching this lady maneuver her “bioluminescent lightstrings,” looks a lot like this image; the light trails were also visible to the naked eye—a bit like seeing this picture in 3-D.

This was about the time somebody walked right up to me and asked point blank whether I had any acid. Needless to say a good number of the people in attendance were enjoying the event on a far different level.

I called this the “glowstick graveyard.”

Really cool creations hanging beneath the pier, made out of lights, mechanized parts, and plastic bags that inflated and deflated making them look like some bizarre robotic jellyfish.

[17] “Come Together” images

A couple weeks ago I shot a “Come Together” session with Leanne and Thomas…at Disneyland! The Happiest Place on Earth is supreme for engagement shoots: nice foliage, ponds, bridges, waterfalls…what’s not to love? These kids are fun, too! They’re getting married on Halloween and having a PIRATE THEMED wedding!!!

Leanne, looking superduper cute! Something about her complexion and gorgeous eyes reminds me of Snow White.

Thomas practicing his groomly airs.

Leanne’s nickname is “Sparkles” due to her sugar-sweet, ham-tastic personality. It looks like she’s blowing sparkly fairy dust at Tommy in this pic!!

Have I mentioned sparkly personality?

Lastly, there was NO WAY I was going to shoot at an amusement park and not go on a ride! In a way these are my favorite shots of the day =)

[26] Wedding images

The other Saturday I photographed Justin and Carmella’s wedding at the Chart House in Dana Point, CA. This was a special wedding to me as I’ve known Justin for nearly seven years now! Matt, whose also a friend of Justin’s (in fact, I think he’s known Justin longer!) assisted.

Justin. I met him in another life, while working as a stage hand at the internationally-lauded art theater, Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. He’s still there!

Matt snagged this one of PURE Justin personality!

Meanwhile, in the ladies’ room…

Carmella gets a little help from her mom and sister.

Carmella’s dad sees his little girl in her wedding dress…

Matt got this great focus-racking shot of Carmella reacting to a particularly funny setup with Justin and her bridesmaids!

Just the gals =)

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY!! This was at the tail end of a morbidly hot weekend, but the biggest perk of getting married right on the water is the wonderful ocean breeze.

Matt got this great shot of the ceremony overlooking the harbor. Man. I wish I was tall.

Toast time!

Aw, happy tears from Carmella’s sis

Love it!

Guess what kind of dance this is…

Matt scored this one and there’s something sweepingly dramatic about it that I really like.

Some of my Pageant friends being the life of the party, as usual!

Good deed of the day: Teach one person the YMCA dance.
