[38] Wedding images: Rachel & Joel

Last Saturday Matt and I joined Rachel and Joel at Tivoli Too in Laguna Beach. Rachel is the daughter of my parents’ neighbors, I’ve known her for a long time!

Rachel, Joel, and their bridal party were nice enough to meet us a couple hours before the ceremony to get in some quality photo time. It really is awesome what we can turn out with just some extra time devoted to photography.

Rachel with the gals; one is her sister, the other two, her sisters-in-law. How’s that for family bonds!

Rachel & Sarah, sisters. Stay tuned for Sarah’s awesome Napa wedding next May!

ZOMG IT’S ME!!

I love love love LOVE Rachel’s haircut. SUCH A CUTE LITTLE BOB!!

I know, right??

Couldn’t resist. Gorgeous shot by Matt.

Joel is a big sweetie pie. I think he liked the “Blue Steel” poses better, though. =)

Silly bridal party…and this is pre-champagne!

Love this one by Matt.

One of my all-time favorites

Another fave of mine

I think Tivoli Too is my favorite Tivoli location.

Pretty svelte dress, no?

Best Man’s Blunder

I have to say, for all the stress and madness that centers around weddings, I’ve never seen anything like this happen…it actually makes me rather skeptical, I’m wondering if it was a setup, completely staged.

1. Generally the bride, groom, and officiant stand a lot closer together than they do in this video, they are really spaced apart here.

2. I thought the best man’s movements were a little exaggerated, but it could have just been him being himself, I don’t watch a lot of best man behavior during ceremonies. That could go either way.

I don’t know. What does everyone else think? Real or Staged? And keep in mind that the notorious 2007 video of the bridezilla who goes so crazy that she starts cutting her hair was debunked as a fake, staged by actresses (I totally thought that one was real, too…those girls were SO good)! Anything goes with viral videos!

[35] wedding images

A few weeks ago Justin & I were out in sunny Mission Hills, CA shooting Gina & Patrick’s wedding at one of California’s many old historic missions. Justin is a pretty funny fellow who is always full of encouragement and jokes, and consequently I frequently produce some of my best work when I shoot with him. It also helps when a couple books a DJ or a venue that furnishes a lot of cool stuff, like a fog machine and spotlights!

San Fernando Rey de España mission in San Bernardino. We’re so lucky to live in an area with such beautiful, historic edifices.

Gina & Patrick’s little girl loves cameras…lucky me!!

G&P’s other little girl applying makeup. Darlingest shot ever.

Both girls hiding out in the closet!

Rather than fight daylight following their ceremony, Gina & Patrick opted to check each other out beforehand (pictured :D) and do some of their photos before the madness began!

I could NOT get over how adorable this little dude was in his teeny tiny suit!! I wanted to just eat him up!

There were children everywhere at this wedding.

Patrick’s mom was on Cloud 9 surrounded by all the babies!

Gina entering the mission’s candlelit chapel.

One of Gina’s relatives had a beautiful prayer shawl that I was admiring.

It must’ve been at least 90 degrees in that chapel and all the kids just wilted away and skipped the hour-long ceremony entirely.

Well, maybe not ALL the kids!

CAKE

This cracked me up: The reception was held at Palacio Torres in Sylmar and even though it was a private party and there was no other business at the venue that night, they had security stationed at the entrance. Rough neighborhood, I guess. But what was funny was they also had a guy hovering over the cake. I guess when there’s that many children in attendance?? Lol!

A gorgeously romantic First Dance, complete with bubbles, fog, and a spotlight. Love it!

WOOOOHOOOO!!! This crazy guest won the centerpiece and was SO INTO getting her whole table to dance!

Yumm-aayyy!

Gina with her papa.

Gina’s little girl watching the father-daughter dance.

Patrick’s mom trying not to let her emotions get the better of her during the mother-son dance.

If you’re debating whether or not to incorporate parent-child dances into your own wedding, I think Patrick’s mom’s expression should speak for itself on that matter…!

I’ve never been to a wedding where there were two bouquet tosses: one for the unmarried ladies, and one for the married ones as well. The “prize” for the married women was “the lucky lady who catches it is gonna be getting some action tonight!” And look how enthusiastically they leaped for it after hearing THAT!!

That’s the look of a married woman!
