If you've never considered paper cranes as reception decoration, you must check out Joan and Matt's backyard reception! Absolutely gorgeous, to go along with the floral designs and the beautiful Los Angeles Arboretum wedding party portrait location.
This one was a pretty exciting adventure. A wedding ceremony on a sailboat cruising around the San Diego harbor! Perfect for adventurous, outside-the-box thinkers like Rachel and Bob (outside-the-box thinking also clearly depicted by Bob's amazing Yoda socks).Venue: Marriott Marquis, San Diego, and the San Diego Bay
Amber and Wayne had the most lovely details at their bayside wedding in Long Beach, including the color palette, textile touches, and Amber's beautifully ruffled lace dress! Serious wedding goals here.
These two at the arboretum in Arcadia! Talk about B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. Anne and Jo had an intimate marriage ceremony amidst the greenery last month and despite the waning summer heat (and the mosquitos!) their photos are among my favorites taken this year.
Kate and Jon stumbled across this wedding site a little accidentally--it overlooks a cove where Jon surfs. The springtime "superbloom" and the view of the cove close to sunset make for some spectacular scenery, so this spot is one of my new favorite ceremony sites! Bonus: Can you peek Kate's adorable baby bump?
This wedding was drrrrrrrripping with beautiful golden sunlight. I love this venue! Bride and groom Jessica and Ryan also ensured their event was the perfect balance of Star Wars geekdom and classic elegance, with a custom Star Wars cake topper and lightsaber First Dance as well as statuesque floral centerpieces and "little black dress" bridesmaid attire.Venue: Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton, CAWedding Planning: Maria Lindsay WeddingsHair & Makeup: Design VisageFloral Design: The Blooming BranchCake: Creative CakesDJ: Showcase DJ
If you've worked at enough weddings you've probably seen a groom (or best man, or groomsman) jokingly pretend to have lost the rings when the time comes during the ceremony to present them for exchange. Well, the look of shock on Robert's face was the realio-dealio because when he felt around in his pocket he couldn't locate the rings, at first. Fortunately they were there (just hiding!), bride Courtney was completely unfazed, and the rest of the ceremony continued smoothly against the backdrop of Laguna Beach's beautiful coast.
One thing Jaymee and Mike pull off easily is looking effortlessly glam, with a lengthy veil, lace-sleeved dress, and classic Rolls Royce. Glam is actually a pretty good way to describe the whole wedding, in fact!Venue (ceremony): St. Kilian Catholic ChurchVenue (reception): Dove Canyon Golf ClubWedding Planning: Ciao Bella Wedding Planning & EventsFloral Design: Cargo CreativeVideography: Sparkle FilmsClassic Car: Classy Chassis RentalsLighting & Drapery: Illuminated EventsLive Music: West Coast Music Beverly HillsHair & Makeup: OC Hair & Makeup
It's not every weekend we get to photograph a tea ceremony with the most fun-loving couple in Los Angeles. Polaroid snapshot requirements for the seating chart, photobooth with silly props, Jenga, beloved pooches in the wedding party, and a reception beer challenge...no guest was spared from this Randi and Terry's sense of fun and mischief!
Katie and Austin's wedding was all about the par-tay! They kicked it off by cutting their cake with a three-foot sabre and danced long into the night. So many good memories. So many good pictures.Venue: Los Verdes Golf Club, Rancho Palos Verdes CAThis reminds me so much of DaVinci's "Last Supper"!....except for shots.
Grace's sister Christine is a longtime client of ours, so I was really happy to hear about Grace's own wedding plans, which included an intimate rooftop dinner overlooking a California sunset. Not to mention a traditional Korean tea ceremony, featuring dates being thrown at the couple in hopes of many children!Venue: La Casa Del Camino, Laguna Beach CA Ben's grandma putting all grandmas everywhere to shame as she leads the reception in a round of shots.
Christie and Cade were excited to take some pictures inside an art museum with a pretty rad exhibit happening. I guess it's no surprise since they're pretty rad people...they made sure to include lawn games at their reception, including an oversized jenga table! Special thanks to Meghan Lubeck for photographing this with me.Venue: Long Beach Museum of Art, Long Beach, CAFlowers: Bride & BloomDJ: VOX DJs
Many months ago when Dani & Kevin first commissioned us, I remember wondering whether they were risking the threat of rain getting married in late November during an El Niño winter. It wasn't until MUCH later that I learned that Southern CA's rainy season (including during El Niño years) is actually January through March. It ended up being a pretty warm day, even! The late Indian summer sun didn't dampen our hustle though, and made for a picture-perfect San Clemente ocean view.Venue: Casa Romantica, San Clemente CACoordination: Beachgirl WeddingsFlorals: Friend of the familyDJ: Epic Sound & LightingI love a nice, emotional First Look!
Maaay have had a personal connection to this gorgeous couple. Their intimate canyon wedding was attended by so many loving and supportive friends and family members! Weddings can be so emotionally draining to plan and execute, but the warm and glowing atmosphere like that at this event is totally the payoff. Thanks to Meghan Lubeck for photographing this one with me.Venue: Inn of the Seventh RayFlowers: Elliot & Olivia EventsVideography: Love Story ProductionRachel is a musician, so incorporating her piano seemed not only appropriate but downright necessary!I always love that "first look" when the bride's dad sees her for the first time on her wedding day!Oh, hi! Look who made an appearance...
Couldn't be happier with Tammy & Chris' photos from their wedding last month. They had the perfect mix of warm temperatures and cool breezes, bright sun and soft clouds, and supportive friends and relatives with cute kids.
Love this snap of Tammy's dad greeting her in the bridal suite!
Apparently the park service doesn't permit any kind of wedding decorations for ceremonies at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. Which is fine. Because as you can see from Emily and Dale's photos, no decoration could even compare to the jaw-dropping vista of Yosemite Valley and Half-Dome! These two picked a gorgeous day with gorgeous weather for their wedding at one of the most gorgeous settings I have ever personally laid eyes on. I'm still blown away.
