Looking forward to this couple's wedding in just a couple weeks! Ahhhh! They are such stunners in front of the camera, I can't wait to see them dussied up in wedding finery!
The fair is fun. Laura & Greg are fun. Ergo, this session was DOUBLE FUN....hence the fun house, naturally! But I think all of our fun is pretty evident in the pictures. Can't wait for this couple's wedding this November!
I am embarrassed to admit that in TWO separate moments of total mental weakness during this session I slipped and addressed Brittany as "Julia" because I think she looks so much like Julia Stiles from certain angles/expressions. These two wanted some nice springtime foliage with their engagement session so it was fabulous that in addition to beautiful sunshine, we recently had some nice heavy rains that resulted in gorgeous blooms and greenery abounding for their photoshoot! Now I can't wait to see what else their good luck will bring them during their wedding this June!
I had never met Tracy and Steven before they blustered into the Santa Monica area for their engagement session, but I liked them immediately. They'll be getting married out of state later this year but Tracy used to live near the pier and liked the idea of getting some engagement pictures there while they were briefly in town. The pair of them are a bundle of laughs together, and I'm pretty sure they'll be throwing a rip-roarer of a party during their reception!
The many faces of Tracy, ladies and gentlemen.
I won't go into detail about the harrowing experience Alana and Alex had making their way from Culver City down to Costa Mesa for their engagement session at the fair, but it can be summed up pretty nicely with the word "traffic." Once they arrived and procured an oversized corn dog and crispy turkey leg, they had a grand old time, because let's be honest...it's really hard to not have fun at the fair!
Gorrrrrrrggeeeeouuuuss light and springtime greenery for Nallely and Ivan's engagement session, which is exactly what the couple (getting married this June with an ocean view!) had in mind. This location is my new favorite "secret spot," at least for the springtime when everything is soft and lush!Check out all the widlife we saw during this session! It was so exciting to spot coyotes, toads, woodpeckers, stink bugs, rabbits, and wild parakeets. It must be spring because everyone is out and about on the trails!
Apparently Vanessa's only requests for the engagement party: beer and cheese. Bradley's sister Christy was only too happy to oblige, hosting a relaxed gathering in her backyard featuring beanbag games on custom boards with decals of Vanessa & Brad's faces, and (eventually) beer pong! We count Vanessa, who works at the Hilton Waterfront Resort here in Huntington Beach, as one of our good friends in the events industry and were so flattered that she and Bradley asked us to photograph this!Venue: Private residenceCatering: Bear Flag Fish CompanyFlorals: DIYLinens: Designer Specialty Linens
The couple of the hour, as well as their fur baby Pixie.Vanessa and Bradley gifted family members with personalized beverage glasses depicting nicknames.Vanessa, to any and all children who'd just arrived: "Are you excited to throw beanbags at my face??!"Of course, no backyard party is complete without a beer pong tournament. Vanessa and her mother (yes, her mother!) competed against Bradley and one of his friends.
Cindy and Jaime braved mysterious rustling bushes and possible poison oak to land some of these photos. I love how they're able to roll with the punches, and all the awesome plans they have lined up for their wedding at the Museum of Art in Long Beach are making me antsy for July to hurry up and get here!
Q: Should I commission a photographer to take pictures when I propose to my significant other?A: Whether photographers are included in your proposal's "master plan" or not is all a matter of personal taste. If you're sure your significant other will react well (and say yes!) then having a photographer on hand to capture the moment is fun for everyone else who couldn't be there to see it...and great for both of you to be able to remember exactly how and where it happened. One proposal that has been seen frequently featured on this blog as well as several others within this industry depicts our photography of Trevor's proposal to Angela at Disney's CA Adventure.Trevor arranged it so that after he proposed, we all went on to do an engagement session in the park. So by the end of the day the couple had some great proposal photos for their Facebook profiles to break the news to friends, and already had their engagement session out of the way...all within the first day of their engagement!
Cat and Dylan met at Chapman University during university, and were excited to use it as a setting for their engagement portraits. Dylan is a lucky guy---Cat was well-known on campus as a self-confident girl with long dark hair and a penchant for wearing tiny devil horns on any given day (they are, according to Dylan, "her trademark")! They have a lot of fun with each other and were easy to photograph...the happiest couples usually are!
