"Howl-O-Ween" at The Living Desert

Living Desert ostrich

Last week we had the sheer delight of photographing trick-or-treating and other fun family activities at The Living Desert Zoo & Botanical Garden, during their annual public "Howl-O-Ween" event. The festival runs three nights and helps generate funds for the organization as well as provides some safe scares and sweet treats in celebration of all things spook-tacular!  The lighting was certainly a challenge (if it ain't dark, it ain't spooky!), but we managed to nab some great captures that really illustrate what Halloween is all about!

Sometimes the field of photography really yields awesomely insane situations and opportunities that you just know you'd never encounter if you were working in any other field. Take this past Monday. I was standing in a zoo in Palm Desert with a camel swiveling its giant camel head with its saggy camel lips over my head as it searched for more paint-soaked canvases to nibble. No, really. The fabulous ladies at Simply Mumtaz Events put on some razzle-dazzle for the WTUI Conference attendees in the African Village Watutu at The Living Desert Zoo and Botanical Garden this week, and despite some harrowing weather, there was still plenty of fun (and deliciousness!) to be had.

What a crazy awesome event.  Gotta love a unique venue that boasts talented ungulates!
