Really, how can you resist?
EMERGENCY ALERT! The Orange County Humane Society shelter is currently FULL. If you are considering adopting a pet, now is the time to take action and check out their animals! They have dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and colors, as well as rabbits, on occasion. When the shelter reaches max capacity they are forced to turn away other healthy and adoptable unwanted animals to an unimaginable fate! The shelter is also always accepting donations of pet food, blankets, litter, cleaning supplies, and more. Check out their ongoing wish list if you are considering charity for the holiday season!
More fur-babies in need of homes. Some are old, some are young, but they all love a warm place to sleep and someone to care for them!
Are you ready for your summer dose of boopable noses and heart-melting Bambi eyes?
Haiku the cat has fangs! (Maybe they should have called him "Cullen" or something!). Poor kitty, he was dumped off at the shelter when his loving owner died of cancer.
Capri truly has the most hypnotic eyes
The Humane Society has a lot of really pretty cats right now...
Wishing I had a smile as big as Beau's (right)
Sweet Trudy. I love this dog...she has a wee underbite.
Like many white cats, Polar is hard of hearing.
Poor Axle, giving me the sad-eye
"Crunchy" tries to nab a toy
This pup didn't even have a name yet!
"Double Stuff" (like the oreo?) and Luie. Poor Luie was adopted and then returned to the shelter. How could they resist those huge eyes?
Bear is a big, handsome tomcat
All I want for Christmas is a tub of darling puppies, and a basket of fuzzy kittens! You could probably hear me squealing for miles if I found this kind of preciousness under my tree Christmas morning.Find a furry friend for Christmas at the OC Humane Society this winter!
Colette's Catering event goddess Natalie was so taken with the portraits I've done for the Orange County Humane Society that she commissioned me to photograph her doxies 1-yr-old Piper and 2-yr-old Maggie for the holidays.
SO cute. Piper is a very dainty doggie who doesn't like spending a lot of time in the cool grass, so a wee little cushion was necessary. I think they look like calendar models in this shot! Weenie pin-ups!
Avert your eyes before the cuteness melts them!! Maggie giving Piper an affectionate nuzzle.
Silly-ears Maggie (L) and Little Miss Piper (R)
Maggie is such a diva. "I'm ready for my 8,000th close-up now!"
Ten-year-old Miles was determined to play it uber-cool. This kid should be a pre-teen catalog model, seriously.
Twelve-year-old Emily and fifteen-year-old Karina should also be models. Stunners, fo' sho. Instead, they are all about volleyball and fashion, respectively.
The Orange County Humane Society is up to their ears in bunnies! I can personally testify that once you realize they are NOT like cats or dogs, rabbits make for excellent pets; they are quiet, low-maintenance (compared to a dog), and excellent for folks living in apartments or other small living quarters. Do your research, however---rabbits need space to run and rooms with open cables and wires need to be bunnyproofed!
The lonely Natasha
Harley, striking a pose
Candie's eyes really are that pretty!
Mamacita is a shy lover of all humans.
Dewey the doxie; boy, did he ever work it for the camera!
"Pound Song" from Lady & the Tramp
Summer's here and so are more friendly faces from the Orange County Humane Society shelter, just a block up Newland from the beach! The Humane Society is now also showcasing some of their dogs, cats, and rabbits at the Strand on 5th and PCH during the Huntington Beach Tuesday night street fair every week. Check them out!
Bobby begs, "Please, pick me!"
Vita the curious cat!
The sleek Elvira
Poor Simon was living the good life until his owner died and no one would take him in :(
This is either Tweedledee or Tweedledum...hard to say--they're twins, after all!
Frida prefers the two-legged view!
The handsome Dash
Myra couldn't resist the kitty toy!
If you're going to end a post with a smile, there's no smilier face than Indigo's! She just loves life!
Hooray! Luminaire Images is the official photographer for the Orange County Humane Society, and it's time for some pics of their June wards!
Mowgli and Baloo are BFF's and are hoping to be adopted together. It's actually rather smart...just when you think you can't resist the cuteness of one, the other will appear and overpower you in a hailstorm of Pitiful Puppy Eyes!
Freckles aspires to be an American Idol
Snoopy's photo is dying to be captioned. I kind of want to put a little thought bubble above his head that reads, "You want me to do what?"
Pluto has the worst story I've ever heard---on top of being a stray at a shelter to begin with (which obviously is bad enough), she was recently adopted by an elderly woman who was in a car crash while driving Pluto home from the shelter! The woman was paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life, and poor traumatized Pluto is now back at the shelter because her new owner can't care for her after the wreck! I'm not making that up. Pluto needs somebody to show her that car rides can be fun again!
Jumper likes to stand on his hind legs. Not everyone figures out there are ways around being a foot tall!
The weird thing about Tahoe is that he looks and acts JUST like Charlie from All Dogs Go to Heaven. He's got the same friendly grin and floppy Don Bluth movement...no, seriously! So there you have it...if you ever wanted a dog like the one from that movie, Tahoe is at the shelter and waiting for you.
I accidentally called Jack "Toto" while photographing him, I hope he wasn't insulted.
"Give me your best puppy face! Good dogs!!"
"Too much puppyface! TOO MUCH!!" (Deena really knew how to work it, doesn't this just break your heart??)
Cats and kittens are 25% off this month at the OCHS shelter---it's not too late to pick up this sweetheart on the cheap!
Seal ("named after Heidi Klum's husband," I was told), is a little cross-eyed. Not that Seal-the-celeb is cross-eyed, too.
More furry-faced goodness from the OC Humane Society! The OCHS will also be at the America's Family Pet Expo this weekend at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Stop by and see some of these sweetie pies yourself!
Also, if you love pets and would like to get to know the ones at your own local shelter, why not contact them and volunteer? All of these photographs were taken by me for free to help these little guys get adopted sooner, so obviously you can donate more than money to the cause (though money is definitely helpful, too!). See you at the Expo this weekend!
Once again, the Bambi-eyed fur-babies from the OC Humane Society. Lots of really adorable faces in this batch and über affectionate personalities--these little guys should be snatched up fast, I'd hurry over if you're looking for a new dog or cat!
Darling little Springsteen
Like I said, there is a really great selection of pets at the shelter right now...no time to waste if you're thinking about a new member of the family!
